I provide psychotherapy for issues that range from general to severe. You don't need to have a mental health diagnosis in order to seek out psychotherapy.
Some examples of issues I work with include:
Couple Therapy/ Marriage Counseling
Couple therapy or marriage counselling are two different names that refer to the same service. Couples who are in a serious relationship whether they are dating, common-law, engaged or legally married can seek psychotherapy/counselling for a range of problems related to their relationship. For example:
Couple therapy can include helping the couple understand and cope with one or both partners physical or mental illness (e.g. heart disease, cancer, personality disorder, bipolar, etc).
*Couple therapy can be detrimental in certain situations of abuse and if this is the case, for client safety, I would not work with the client in couple therapy but possibly individual therapy. The word abuse used above is for situations I have encountered where one partner is physically violent towards the other but is openly expressing a desire to change and stop the behaviour and safety of the other partner can be maintained during the course of couple therapy
